Expansión Maxilar y su Relación con la Función Auditiva en Pacientes Pediátricos. Reporte de un Caso

Abstract

The social service was carried out at the Ismaell Cosío Villegas National Institute of Respiratory Diseases, located at Calzada de Tlalpan 4502, Belisario DomínguezSection16, Tlalpan, 14080 Mexico City, CDMX. It included a period from August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2022. 2023, in the Stomatology service in the morning shift in charge of the CMF. Carlos Alberto Carrasco Rueda, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, where activities inherent to Stomatology were carried out. The research work consists of a bibliographic review where the main objective was to describe if there is an association between hearing function and maxillary collapse in the pediatric population in the Stomatology Service. It was carried out with the purpose of knowing its etiology, the risk factors for its development, describing diagnostic methods and aids, and answering the following questions: Is there a relationship between maxillary collapse and loss of hearing function? Do patients with maxillary collapse present loss of hearing function according to tone audiometry and impedanciometry? Is there improvement in hearing function in patients with maxillary collapse after undergoing maxillary expansion? For this review, journal articles were consulted in databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, ScieLo and Medigraphic published within the period 2017-2022 to obtain updated information. Some books that could provide the information that we wanted to know were also used. Keywords: maxillary collapse, auditory function, transverse deficiency, rapid expansión of the maxilla.

El servicio social se realizó en el Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias “Ismael Cosío Villegas”, ubicado en Calzada de Tlalpan 4502, Belisario DomínguezSección16, Tlalpan, 14080 Ciudad de México, CDMX. Comprendió un periodo del1 de agosto del 2022 al 31 de julio del 2023, en el servicio de Estomatología en el turno matutino a cargo del CMF. Carlos Alberto Carrasco Rueda, en un horario de8:00 a 14:30 horas de lunes a viernes, donde se realizaron actividades inherentes a Estomatología. El trabajo de investigación consiste en una revisión bibliográfica donde el principal objetivo fue describir si existe una asociación entre la función auditiva y el colapso maxilar en población pediátrica en Servicio de Estomatología. Se realizó con la finalidad de conocer su etiología, los factores de riesgo para su desarrollo, describir métodos y auxiliares de diagnóstico, y responder a las siguientes preguntas ¿Existe una relación entre el colapso maxilar y la pérdida de función auditiva? ¿Los pacientes con colapso maxilar presentan pérdida de la función auditiva de acuerdo con la audiometría tonal e impedanciometría? ¿Existe mejoría en la función auditiva en pacientes con colapso maxilar después de ser sometidos a expansión del maxilar? Para esta revisión se consultaron artículos de revista en bases de datos como PubMed, Google Académico, ScieLo y Medigraphic publicados dentro del periodo del 2017-2022 para obtener información actualizada, también se utilizaron algunos libros que pudieran proporcionar la información que se deseaba conocer.
