Farmacovigilancia en Pacientes Geriátricos de Cirugía General del Hospital General Dr. Manuel Gea González

Abstract

A retrospective study of pharmaceutical care and pharmacovigilance was carried out in the In-hospital Pharmacy department of the Dr. Manuel Gea Gonzalez General Hospital of the internal medicine and general surgery services, caring for 383 patients, of which 172 were male and 211 female, giving priority to geriatric people (adults over 60 years of age and older). The activities carried out were in relation to hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical care and pharmacovigilance as established by the Pharmacopeia of the United Mexican States, whose mission is to preserve, dispense, minister and contribute to the monitoring and use of medications, in addition to supplying other products and health care services, helping society to use them appropriately. The focus of the study is in relation to the use of thromboprophylactic treatment and to evaluate it, two scales were used: Caprini for surgical patients and Padua for non-surgical patients in order to assess the risk of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE). At the end of evaluating these patients, it was possible to evaluate the risk of thrombosis in geriatric patients and problems related to thromboprophylaxis were detected, however the acceptance rate of the interventions carried out by doctors is very low, so it must be improved and implemented. Effective communication between doctors, nursing areas and pharmacists, in order to provide better patient care.

Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo de atención farmacéutica y farmacovigilancia en el departamento de Farmacia Intrahospitalaria del Hospital General Dr. Manuel Gea González de los servicios de medicina interna y cirugía general, atendiendo 383 pacientes, de los cuales 172 fueron masculinos y 211 femeninos, dándole prioridad a personas geriátricas (adultos mayores de 60 años en adelante). Las actividades realizadas fueron con relación a farmacia hospitalaria, atención farmacéutica y farmacovigilancia según lo establecido por la Farmacopea de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos, que tiene como misión conservar, dispensar, ministrar y contribuir al seguimiento y uso de medicamentos, además de suministrar otros productos y servicios para el cuidado de la salud, ayudando a la sociedad a emplearlos de la forma adecuada. El enfoque del estudio es en relación con el uso de tratamiento tromboprofiláctico y para evaluarlo se utilizaron dos escalas: Caprini para pacientes quirúrgicos y Padua para pacientes no quirúrgicos con el fin de valorar el riesgo de Tromboembolismo Venoso (TEV). Al terminar de evaluar dichos pacientes se logró evaluar el riesgo de trombosis en pacientes geriátricos y se detectaron problemas relacionados con la tromboprofilaxis, sin embargo la tasa de aceptación de las intervenciones realizadas a los médicos es muy baja por lo que se debe mejorar e implementar un comunicación efectiva entre los médicos, área de enfermería y farmacéuticos, con el fin de brindar una mejor atención al paciente.
