Manual de metodología diagnóstica oftalmológica aplicado a las pequeñas especies.

Abstract

En la actualidad la especialidad de oftalmología veterinaria no se le ha dado la importancia que debería, ya que difícilmente se imparte la enseñanza de anatomía y fisiología del globo ocular en las diferentes facultades de medicina veterinaria de México. De igual manera la especialidad de oftalmología veterinaria es poco difundida en México y alrededor del mundo, por lo que el objetivo de este trabajo fue desarrollar un manual práctico de diagnóstico oftalmológico describiendo la anatomía, fisiología ocular, historia clínica y la metodología diagnóstica oftalmológica. En este trabajo se presenta de forma sistemática y ordenada las pruebas, el equipo y las técnicas que se deben emplear para poder realizar un buen examen oftalmológico con el fin de proporcionar una herramienta de consulta para la enseñanza y aprendizaje dirigido a los estudiantes, profesores y académicos de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana sobre las bases de la oftalmología veterinaria. Para lograr este objetivo se realizó una revisión bibliográfica actualizada de diversas fuentes de información. El periodo de revisión bibliográfica fue del año 2008 al 2022. Se pudo concluir que es de vital importancia el conocimiento de las bases de la oftalmología veterinaria, así como saber cómo realizar el examen oftalmológico completo. Por lo tanto, se requiere de estos conocimientos para que se pueda realizar un acertado diagnóstico y poder dar un tratamiento adecuado.

Currently, the specialty of veterinary ophthalmology has not been given the importance it should be, since it is difficult to teach anatomy and physiology of the eyeball in the different colleges of veterinary medicine in Mexico. Likewise, the specialty of veterinary ophthalmology is little spread in Mexico and around the world, so the objective of this work was to develop a practical manual of ophthalmological diagnosis describing the anatomy, ocular physiology, clinical history and ophthalmological diagnostic methodology. The tests, the equipment and the techniques that must be used to perform a good ophthalmological examination are presented in a systematic and orderly way in order to provide a consultation tool for teaching and learning aimed at students, professors and academics of the UAM about the basis of veterinary ophthalmology. To achieve this objective, an updated bibliographical review of various sources of information was carried out. The period of bibliographic review was from 2008 to 2022. It was concluded that knowledge of the bases of veterinary ophthalmology is of vital importance, as well as knowing how to perform the complete ophthalmological examination. Therefore, this knowledge is necessary to be able to make an accurate diagnosis and administer an adequate treatment.
