Tim Burton : Lo marginal en el centro Los dilemas morales de personajes marginales

Abstract

El universo de Tim Burton es amplio y diverso, lleno de imaginación y se caracteriza por crear diferentes mundos como la realidad y fantasía o el contraste entre vivos y muertos. Los personajes también son un elemento relevante en la filmografía del cineasta, ya que destacan por ser sujetos marginales que no pertenecen al mundo narrado debido a su manera de pensar o su aspecto fisico. El objetivo del presente trabajo es estudiar las características de personajes marginales, denominados anti héroes y posteriormente realizar un análisis en donde se encuentren dentro de algún dilema moral. El análisis se realiza únicamente en los films que adquirieron mayor presencia en cuanto a dilemas morales. En el primer capítulo se aborda la vida de Tim Burton, ya que son relevantes e importantes los acontecimientos personales para la creación de sus personajes, pues son creados mediante una conexión emocional por parte del cineasta e incluso cada película lleva plasmado algún momento de su infancia, adolescencia y adultez. Posteriormente se presenta la definición del termino anti héroe, las características de algunos personajes y la postura que tiene la sociedad hacía ellos por ser diferentes. Este último concepto es importante, ya que muestra cómo son vistos por el otro y el por qué los lleva a ser relegados. En el siguiente capítulo se habla de la definición de dilema moral y los sistemas éticos. Y para finalizar el lector encontrará el análisis formal de secuencias especificas donde el personaje anti héroe se encuentra dentro de un dilema moral en el cortometraje Vincent (1982) y en las siguientes películas: Eduardo Manos de Tijera (1990) , Beetlejuice (1988) , Charlie y la fábrica de chocolate (2005) y El cadáver de la novia (2005).

Tim Burtons universe is wide and diverse, full of imagination and is characterized by creating different worlds such as reality and fantasy or the contrast between living and dead. The characters are also a relevant element in the filmmakers filmography, as they stand out for being marginal subjects who do not belong to the narrated world due to their way of thinking or their physical appearance. The aim of this work is to study the characteristics of marginal characters, called anti-heroes and then make an analysis where they are within a moral dilemma. The analysis is carried out only in films that acquired greater presence in terms of moral dilemmas. The first chapter deals with the life of Tim Burton, since personal events are relevant and important for the creation of his characters, since they are created through an emotional connection on the part of the filmmaker and even each film has captured some moment of his childhood, adolescence and adulthood. Later the definition of the term anti-hero is presented, the characteristics of some characters and the posture that has the society made them to be different. This last concept is important because it shows how they are seen by the other and why they are relegated. The next chapter discusses the definition of moral dilemmas and ethical systems. And finally the reader will find the formal analysis of specific sequences where the anti-hero character is in a moral dilemma in the short film Vincent (1982) and in the following films: Eduardo Manos de Tijera (1990), Beetlejuice (1988) , Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) and The Corpse of the Bride (2005).
