Abstract

El objetivo de esta investigación es estudiar las diferentes representaciones del personaje de la bruja como protagonista, en el cine de terror mexicano de las décadas de los setenta y ochenta. No sólo se trata de una de las figuras más recurrentes en el cine y la literatura de terror, sino que también es un arquetipo anclado en la historia del mundo y sus distintas sociedades y mentalidades. Es un personaje que nace de la superstición y la violencia hacia la mujer que se salía de lo establecido por la religión católica, y que ha estado presente en múltiples culturas. Así como la bruja muestra rasgos universales de la humanidad, también es una figura particularmente representativa en la cultura mexicana, en un sinnúmero de leyendas, cuentos y relatos que se han transformado desde la época prehispánica hasta nuestros días. El cine es una representación de la realidad que se vive en el momento en que este es realizado. La década de los setenta representó cambios para las mujeres mexicanas que poco a poco se unían a movimientos feministas y liberadores. Este trabajo inicia la reflexión en torno a cómo era percibida la mujer mexicana en esa época, a través de su cine de terror y de este personaje femenino al que la sociedad teme. ----- The purpose of this research is to study the different representations of the character of the witch as a protagonist, in Mexican horror cinema of the seventies and eighties. The witch is not only one of the most recurrent figures in horror movies and literature, but it is also an archetype that goes through world history and its different societies and mentalities. She is a character born of superstition and violence against women that went beyond what was established by the Catholic religion, and that has been present in multiples cultures. Just as the witch shows universal characteristics of humanity, she is also a particularly representative figure in Mexican culture, in countless legends, tales and stories that have been transformed from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. Cinema is a representation of the reality that is lived at the moment in which it is made. The 1970s represented changes for Mexican women who gradually joined the feminist and liberating movements. This work begins the reflection on how Mexican women were perceived at that time, through their horror films and this female character that society fears.
