Pregunta sencilla, respuesta compleja: ¿cómo entender la covid-19?

Abstract

Starting from the fact that an epidemic outbreak has become the pandemic that has affected humanity the most in the last century, an answer is provided by means of four successive questions: is an epidemic a natural phenomenon?, how has been the social response to epidemics?, is covid-19 a pandemic?, and, social sciences and humanities for the management of the pandemic? There are no obvious answers; it is argued that in order to present plausible answers, the interactions between biological and cultural issues must be considered.

A partir del hecho de que un brote epidémico se ha convertido en la pandemia que ha afectado más a la humanidad en el último siglo, se brinda una respuesta mediante cuatro preguntas sucesivas: ¿una epidemia es un fenómeno natural?, ¿cómo ha sido la respuesta social a las epidemias?, ¿covid-19 es una pandemia?, y ¿ciencias sociales y humanidades para el manejo de la pandemia? No hay respuestas evidentes; se argumenta que para exponer respuestas plausibles deben considerarse las interacciones entre lo biológico y lo cultural.
