Neoliberalismo, protesta popular y transición en Chile, 1973-1989

Abstract

Este artículo analiza las principales transformaciones y consecuencias sociales experimentadas en Chile con la instauración del modelo neoliberal durante la dictadura militar. Por otro lado, demuestra que ante el nuevo contexto político y económico, miles de hombres y mujeres protagonizaron un ciclo de protestas y procesos de democratización que quedaron fuera del pacto político que definió la transición a la democracia y los sucesivos gobiernos de la “Concertación”.

This article analyses the main transformations and social consequences felt in Chile with the implementation of the neoliberal model during the military dictatorship. It also shows that faced with the new political and economical context, thousands of men and women took a leading part in a cycle of protests and processes of democratization and were finally left out of the political pact that defined the transition to democracy and the successive “Concertación” governments.
