La emergencia indígena contra el neoliberalismo

Abstract

En este ensayo se explora la relación entre la emergencia indígena que se ha vivido en América Latina en las dos últimas décadas del siglo XX y los procesos de globalización neoliberal que les han dado un marco legal y político nacional e internacional relativamente favorable a las movilizaciones indígenas. Asimismo, se analizan las nuevas condiciones que ellos ofrecen a sus luchas y la manera en que los distintos sujetos étnicos en los países de mayor población indígena del continente (Bolivia, Ecuador, México) están aprovechándolas, contrastando las estrategias de lucha empleadas en cada uno, o los factores que, como en los casos de Guatemala y Perú, han impedido que lo hagan.

This paper explores the relationship between the indigenous resistance that emerged in Latin America during the last two decades of the 20th century and the processes of neoliberal globalization that a national and international legal and political framework that is relatively favorable to indigenous mobilizations. It also analyzes the new conditions they offer their struggles and the way in which various ethnic figures in the countries of the continent with the highest proportions of indigenous populations (Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico) are taking advantage of them, and it contrasts the combat strategies adopted in each and the factors that, as in Guatemala and Peru, have prevented them from doing so.
