La historiografía obrera en México (1972-1991): Un balance crítico

Abstract

This article analyzes the historiographic production, developed between 1972 and 1991, on the Mexican working class. It basically proposes, from the articulation of a theoretical point of view and its technical and methodological procedures, that one can distinguish about two main interpretative currents: a sociopolitical one and an anthropological one. Both where successfully developed in the nineteen twenties, but both seem to have used up its heuristic possibilities. It is suggested that this can be explained due to three factors: a) the nature of the approach, b) its lack of relations with the disciplinary field where it should belong and c) the lack of communication (debate) among them.

En este trabajo se analiza la producción histográfica relativa a la clase obrera mexicana, realizada entre 1972 y 1991. Propone básicamente que, desde el punto de vista de su articulación teórica y sus procedimientos técnico-metodológicos, se puede hablar de dos grandes corrientes de interpretación: una de corte sociopolítico y otra de raigambre antropológica. Ambas se desarrollaron con relativo éxito en esos veinte años, pero parecen haber agotado sus posibilidades heurísticas. Se sugiere que ello puede explicarse por tres factores: a) la naturaleza de su enfoque, b) su desvinculación del campo disciplinario en el que debiera inscribirse y c) la falta de comunicación (y debate) entre ellas.
