Un nacionalismo sin nación aparente (la fabricación de lo "típico" mexicano 1920-1950)

Abstract

The present article analyses the national speech created by the post-revolutionary governments, as well as the unifying and homogenizing tendencies that influenced the political, cultural and intellectual environments, to create a stereotype of "The Mexican". This stereotype denied part of the richness inherited from the XIX century, because it defined "people" as a synonymous of "poor" and "humble" of the rural areas, hardly considering the urban workers. Such speech was coined as "revolutionary nationalism" and its expressions reached all political and cultural life manifestations of Mexico, extending it on to the nineteenseventies, slowly evidencing its wear and the limitation of its statements.

En el presente artículo se analiza el discurso nacional creado por los gobiernos posrevoluaonarios. Así como tendencias unificadoras y homogeneizadoras que permearon los ámbitos político, cultural e intelectual, para configurar un estereotipo de lo mexicano. Estereotipo que negó parte de la riqueza del siglo XIX, pues consideró tangencialmente a los obreros urbanos, y definió al "pueblo " como "los po¬bres " y " los humildes" del medio rural. Dicho discurso fue acuñado como "nacionalismo revolucionario", y sus expresiones alcanzaron todas las manifestaciones de la pida política y cultural mexicanas; se pro¬longó hasta los años setenta de la presente centuria, y, evidenció paulatinamente, su desgaste y las limitaciones de sus planteamientos.
