Servicios de cuidados en México tras la pandemia por covid-19

Abstract

Care services provide benefits (both direct and indirect) to the people who require them; however, they also represent important burdens for their providers. The way in which social policy is designed (specifically the aforementioned services), can free or recharge responsibilities and, therefore, improve or worsen the welfare of both recipients and providers of this type of services, but this depends, to a large extent, on the relationships established between the different spheres of the welfare regime. In this article we will analyze what effects the change of government in 2018 and the health crisis caused by covid-19 had on such services in Mexico.

Los servicios de cuidados otorgan beneficios (tanto directos como indirectos) a las personas que así lo requieren; no obstante, también representan cargas importantes para sus proveedores. La forma en la que se diseña la política social (específicamente los servicios aludidos) puede liberar o recargar de responsabilidades y, por ende, mejorar o empeorar el bienestar tanto de receptores como proveedores de este tipo de servicios, pero eso depende, en buena medida, de las relaciones establecidas entre las distintas esferas del régimen de bienestar. En este artículo analizamos los efectos que el cambio de gobierno en 2018 y la crisis sanitaria causada por el covid-19 tuvieron sobre dichos servicios en México.
