Impacto de Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro y desempleo juvenil de México

Abstract

Esta investigación evalúa el impacto del programa Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro (JCF) y el efecto del covid-19 en el desempleo juvenil de 20-29 años, basado en la Ley Okun y utilizando un modelo de diferencias en diferencias, dividiendo a los estados en cuartiles de acuerdo con la intensidad de apoyo. Los datos se obtuvieron del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi) (2005-T2 a 2021-T2) y de la Secretaría de Bienestar (2019-2021). Se concluye que el covid-19 aumentó el desempleo juvenil en más de 1% y no existe evidencia suficiente para afirmar que JCF tuvo un efecto en el desempleo juvenil en los estados que recibieron más becas.

This study evaluates the impact of the Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro (JCF) program and the effect of covid-19 on youth unemployment between the ages of 20 and 29, based on the Okun law and using a differences-in-differences model, dividing the states into quartiles according to the intensity of support. The data was obtained from Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi) (2005-T2 to 2021-T2) and the Secretaría de Bienestar (2019-2021). It is concluded that covid-19 increased youth unemployment by more than 1% and there is not enough evidence to affirm that JCF had an effect on youth unemployment in the states that received more scholarships.
