Ecofeminismo: pobreza y ruralidad en México

Abstract

Despite the economic and institutional deficiencies of the most vulnerable inhabitants of indigenous communities in Mexico –women, children and the elderly–, they have formed social organizations to face the challenges imposed by contemporary productive development, these organizations are based on the ecofeminist and other positions of socio-environmental empowerment. The objective of this paper is to analyze the development and evolution of ecofeminism and its influence on the political and economic agendas of government agencies with the intention of indicating whether there has been any benefit for rural populations in Mexico through public or private support.

A pesar de las carencias económicas e institucionales que presentan los habitantes más vulnerables en las comunidades indígenas en México –mujeres, niños y adultos mayores–, éstos han formado organizaciones sociales para afrontar los retos que impone el desarrollo productivo contemporáneo; dichas organizaciones se basan en el ecofeminismo y otras posiciones de empoderamiento socioambiental. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el desarrollo y la evolución del ecofeminismo y su influencia en las agendas política y económica de los organismos gubernamentales con la intención de señalar si ha existido algún beneficio para las poblaciones rurales en México por medio de apoyos públicos o privados.
