El giro punitivo, neoliberalismo, feminismos y violencia de género

Abstract

Se hace un breve análisis de la situación económica y política mexicana para sustentar que, en nuestro contexto, son plausibles las hipótesis hechas por Loïc Wacquant y otros autores, acerca del giro punitivo y el surgimiento de una penalidad neoliberal en las sociedades tardomodernas. Se indaga también sobre posibles alianzas o aproximaciones que ciertos movimientos de mujeres y feministas han hecho con gobiernos y políticas penales de corte neoliberal en la urgencia de enfrentar las violencias de género que sufren las mujeres. Esto habría eclipsado los factores estructurales que agudizan dichas violencias y conducido a la reducción de la política feminista a meras reacciones de atención y asignación individual de responsabilidad penal, cayendo en la trampa del Estado neoliberal punitivo.

A brief analysis of the Mexican economic and political situation is made to support that, in our context, the hypotheses made by Loïc Wacquant and other authors, about the punitive turn and the emergence of a neoliberal penalty in late modern societies, are plausible. It also inquiries about possible alliances or approximations that certain movements of women and feminists have made with governments and criminal policies of a neoliberal nature in the urgency of confronting the gender violence suffered by women. This would have led to the obscuring of structural factors that exacerbate such violence and the reduction of feminist politics to mere reactions of attention and individual assignment of criminal responsibility, falling into the trap of the punitive neoliberal State.
