Spinoza y Bayle: Espíritu crítico y libertad de conciencia

Abstract

El presente artículo busca demostrar cómo las ideas del filósofo Baruch Spinoza y del ensayista francés Pierre Bayle, constituyen aportaciones fundamentales y, por lo tanto, clásicas en la construcción del pensamiento crítico de la llamada modernidad. Sobre todo busca enfatizar la necesidad de la libertad de conciencia y la tolerancia, como aspectos viables y bien entendidos para el mundo contemporáneo. Además, define dichos conceptos recurriendo a las ideas y acontecimientos históricos.

This article seeks to demonstrate how the ideas of the philosopher Baruch Spinoza and Pierre Bayle –French essayist– are key inputs and, therefore, classical in the construction of critical thinking called modernity. Particularly seeks to emphasize the need for freedom of conscience and tolerance, as vital and well-understood aspects of the contemporary world. It defines these concepts using the ideas and historical events.
