Producción científica de los investigadores mexicanos sobre el covid-19

Abstract

This article examines the scientific production in Mexico on the new coronavirus disease (SARS-CoV-2 or covid-19). We analyze the national articles that appear in Scopus in the period January-October 2020. We focus on five aspects: 1) comparing the national production on covid-19 to that of other countries; 2) examining the relationship between research and development (R&D) spending and the number of articles on covid-19; 3) studying the role of international collaboration on national academic production; 4) identifying the institutions that generate the most articles on the subject; 5) creating a map of terms as of the titles and abstracts of the 565 national publications, with the objective of identifying the research areas where Mexican scientists work.

En este artículo se examina la producción científica en México sobre el nuevo coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 o covid-19). Analizamos los artículos nacionales que aparecen en Scopus en el periodo enero-octubre de 2020. Nos enfocamos esencialmente en cinco aspectos: 1) comparar la producción nacional en torno al covid-19 con la de otros países; 2) examinar la relación entre el gasto en investigación y desarrollo (IyD) y el número de artículos sobre el covid-19; 3) estudiar el rol de la colaboración internacional sobre la producción académica nacional; 4) identificar las instituciones que más artículos generan sobre el tema; 5) construir un mapa de términos a partir de los títulos y resúmenes de las 565 publicaciones nacionales, con el objetivo de identificar las áreas de investigación donde trabajan los científicos mexicanos.
