¿Es la violencia juvenil un objeto de estudio que tiene una claridad irrebatible? Consideraciones teóricas

Abstract

This text is a theoretical and methodological reflection of an ongoing investigation about the object of study known as “youth violence”. One of the common problems in the study of the phenomenon of violence is that the forcefulness of its manifestations and its effects is confused with a supposed clarity of the concept. Likewise, studies on youth violence have not advanced in the theoretical discussion because they do not adequately define their object of study and focus solely on studying the damage caused by violence and the victim-perpetrator dyad. It is proposed that it is necessary to study the collective meaning of violence to understand its implementation and rationalization at the psychosocial level.

El presente texto es una reflexión teórica y metodológica de una investigación en curso acerca de la “violencia juvenil”. Uno de los problemas comunes al estudio del fenómeno de la violencia se encuentra en que la contundencia de sus manifestaciones y sus efectos se confunde con una supuesta claridad del concepto. Asimismo, los estudios sobre violencia juvenil no han avanzado en la discusión teórica por no definir adecuadamente su objeto de estudio y centrarse únicamente en estudiar las causas, los daños y la diada víctima-victimario. Se propone que es necesario estudiar el sentido colectivo de la violencia para comprender su instrumentación y racionalización a nivel psicosocial.
