Conjugar las emociones: del “yo” al “nosotros”

Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the emotional configuration that appears in contemporary social discourses by using the concept of “structure of feeling” relative to its socio-cultural components: “tone” and “restriction”. The “psicologization” of relationships, the confession of emotions and the biographic stories are connected with the tone. The role of self-help handbooks is considered in terms of constraints to behaviors and emotional expressions. The modality in which the processes of identification develop is concerned with the articulation between subjective dimensions and social discourses. Finally, in this article the relationship between individual emotions and public actions is explored.

Análisis de la configuración emotiva en los discursos sociales contempo- ráneos en términos de “estructura del sentir”, concepto del que se retienen sus componentes socioculturales: tono y restricción. En relación con el primero, se examina la psicologización de las relaciones, la revelación de los sentimientos y las narraciones biográficas. En relación con el segundo, se considera el papel de los manuales de autoayuda que pautan comportamientos y modalidades de expresión de las emociones. A fin de articular la dimensión subjetiva con los discursos sociales circulantes, se examina la modalidad que adquieren los procesos de identificación. Por último, se explora la relación entre la emoción singular y la acción en la esfera pública.
