dc.description.abstract | In the framework of the research that I’ ve been carrying out on the relations between the artistic avant-garde and the political vanguard in Argentina during 1960 and 1970, I ask myself in what ways the concepts avant-garde and revolution served as key concepts (wich organized people’s framework of thinking during the epoch), controversial values that are constantly being redefined, sometimes acting as unifying vectors or devices; other times as tools to accuse/ challenge the opponent. A vast repertoire of artistic interventions (productions, position statements, ideas and debates, individual and collective strategies) signals that from the combination of these two concepts diverse, and often contradictory, politico-artistic poetics and programs came about. I’m referring to the contrasting ways in wich there is a commitment to involve art in the expanding imaginary of social change throughout that dizzying epoch: art understood as the driving force of the revolution, as its subordinated army, as a world separate form the revolution. | en-US |
| es_MX |
