La práctica ganadera desde la perspectiva de las representaciones sociales

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es presentar, a partir de la teoría de las representaciones sociales, un acercamiento a las implicaciones que la práctica ganadera tradicional tiene para las personas que la ejercen, las justificaciones que presentan sobre el trabajo y tiempo dedicado a dicha actividad, así como los afectos que expresan en su relación con los animales. Interesa abordar aspectos del mundo simbólico que posibilita el mantenimiento de la actividad ganadera desde el punto de vista del actor en el pueblo de Ixtlilco el Grande, Morelos. Las creencias, los valores y las posiciones que los actores tienen y van construyendo acerca de un objeto con el que tienen relación y sobre el cual han construido un discurso, permiten comprender qué es lo que está en la base de su forma de pensar, actuar y ubicar desde dónde construyen sus perspectivas de desarrollo.

Social representations of cattle raising. Based on the theory of social representations, this paper looks at the implications which traditional cattle raising practices have for the people involved, the justifications they offer regarding the work and time dedicated to such activity, as well as the affective elements they express in describing their relation with the animals. We examine aspects of the symbolic world which underlie the maintenance of the activity of cattle raising from the point of view of the actors in the town of Ixtlilco el Grand, in the state of Morelos, Mexico. The beliefs, values and positions, which the actors take and continue to construct regarding an object with which they are related and around which they have constructed a discourse, permit us to understand what underlies their ways of thinking and acting and the perspective from which they construct their idea of development.
