Representación e imaginario del mapa de México

Abstract

Social representations and imaginaries of Mexico. Social representations are forged in human communication, but it is in the history of those representations and their interconnection with other psychosocial phenomena such as social memory and collective identities, where social imaginaries emerge and become dynamic; these in turn create a sense of community and give meaning to life through communication and sociocultural practices. By looking at the relationship between social imaginary and social representations, these processes are analyzed using empirical data from a study of imaginary maps of Mexico. In the material obtained it is possible to observe the socio-cognitive, psychosocial and anthropocultural processes that take place in the social and imaginary representation of a territory. The conclusions point to the complexity of the subjective construction of the representation and imaginary of a country.

Es en la comunicación humana donde se forjan las representaciones sociales, pero es la historia de esas representaciones y su interconexión con otros fenómenos psicosociales, como la memoria social y las identidades colectivas, donde emergen y se dinamizan los imaginarios sociales, los cuales, a su vez, crean sentidos de vida y comunidad, a partir de la comunicación y las prácticas sociales y culturales. Estos procesos son examinados en la relación entre imaginario y representaciones sociales mediante un estudio empírico sobre mapas imaginarios de México. En el material empírico obtenido se pudieron observar los procesos sociocognitivos, psicosociales, y antropoculturales que tienen lugar en la construcción social e imaginaria de un territorio. Las conclusiones apuntan al reconocimiento de la complejidad en la construcción subjetiva de la representación e imaginario de un país.
