Las NTIC y el movimiento contra la globalización

Abstract

Los usos imprevistos y socialmente extendidos de las NTIC han posibilitado que se tejiera un movimiento de resistencia contra el neoliberalismo de escala internacional. La movilización en las calles de miles de personas contra las grandes instancias financieras internacionales (OMC, FMI, BM, tratados de libre comercio, etcétera) no sería explicable sin internet, la red de redes que permite el encuentro de muchas disidencias y la búsqueda de convergencia en acciones masivas como las que se dieron en Seattle contra la OMC en noviembre de 1999, Praga en septiembre del 2000 o recientemente contra el ACLA en Canadá.

The unpredictable and socially extended uses of the new information and communication technologies gave way to a world wide resistance movement against neo liberalism. The demonstrations in the streets of thousands of people against the great international financial institutions (WTO, IMF, WB, the NAFTA) could not be explained without the use of the internet, the web of webs which facilitates the coming together of many different protest groups the and the search for convergence in massive actions like the ones that took place in Seattle against the WTO in November 1999, Prague in September 2000 and more recently the movement against AFTA in Canada.
