La imagen del latino en libros de texto estadounidenses

Abstract

En este artículo la autora lleva a cabo un análisis de libros de texto estadounidenses de los años treinta a la fecha, con el objeto de encontrar las distintas imágenes de latino que se construyeron de acuerdo a las fechas en que fueron concebidos y las historiografías que se practicaban en cada época histórica. Se encuentran tres ejes temáticos que organizan este texto: el "Latino" como guerrero, el "Latino" como personaje y el "Latino" como población.

In this article the author analyzes the primary school text books that appeared in the United States since the 30's and until the present moment. The objective is to define the images of "Latino" present in the books and how these have changed historically over the last century. There are three themes that organize this text: "Latino" at war, "Latino" as character, and "Latino" as population.
