La palabra en un diálogo asimétrico

Abstract

En este artículo se analizan conversaciones de médicos, asistentes sociales y enfermeras en un Consultorio público periférico. Se utiliza el concepto de intercambio de E. Roulet para dar cuenta de la organización dialógica de las conversaciones y de los actos de habla que la componen. Se demuestra que, pese al carácter asimétrico de las relaciones, los profesionales y asistidos se adecuan interactivamente a la situación de entrevista y de consulta. Los interlocutores cooperan entre si para cerrar adecuadamente los intercambios y llegar a compromisos de acción. Por otra parte, los intercambios se organizan de distinta manera según el tipo de actividad y de relación social en la situación comunicativa. De este modo, las conversaciones, pese a situarse en un marco institucional, tienen una contingencia que es propia de la situación local creada y ratificada por los interlocutores en el momento de la entrevista y de la consulta. La naturaleza de estas conversaciones, que tienen un grado de autonomía de las estructuras institucionales, subraya la importancia de las transacciones y cooperación de los interlocutores para la construcción de significados y coordinación de sus acciones.

In this article, the conversations of doctors, social workers, nurses and their clients in a marginalized public health clinic will be analyzed. E. Roulet's concept, "exchange", is used to describe the dialogical organization of conversations and of the speech acts which constitute them. It will be demonstrated that, in spite of the asymmetric character of their relations, the professionals and their clients adapt themselves to the interview and treatment situation. The professionals and the clients cooperate to adequately bring to a close their exchanges and to arrive at commitments for action. The exchanges are organized in distinct ways, according to the type of activity and to the type of social relations established in the communicational context. In this way, the conversations, in spite of being located in an institution d framework, are contingent upon the characteristics which are most proper to the local situation which is created and ratified by both during the interview and during medical treatment. The nature of these conversations, which enjoy a degree of autonomy from their structural constraints, underscores the importance of the transactions and cooperation of the speakers in order that they might construct and coordinate their actions.
