Vida y persistencia campesina en un contexto neoliberal

Abstract

El desarrollo del sector agropecuario para Colombia no ha sido contemplado como el medio a partir del cual se puedan desarrollar otros renglones de la economía nacional y, por tanto, alcanzar mayores niveles de desenvolvimiento y bienestar social para la población campesina, indígena y afrodescendiente. Por el contrario, dominan visiones en la que la tenencia improductiva de la tierra tiene como objeto la especulación en el mercado de tierras y como mecanismo de sujeción política y social. El artículo aborda esta realidad, partiendo del análisis de los fenómenos histórico/estructurales que moldean la actualidad agrorural del país, para posteriormente enfocar en un contexto local las transformaciones agrarias y problemáticas que afrontan las sociedades campesinas en el régimen neoliberal. Por último, presentamos a modo de hipótesis, elementos que pueden ayudar a comprender/explicar la persistencia campesina frente a los procesos político/económicos específicos por los que atraviesan en el país.

The development of the agricultural sector in Colombia has not been referred to as the medium from which can be developed other lines of the national economy and therefore achieve higher levels of development and social welfare for the campesino populations, including those of indigenous and African descent. By contrast, in the dominant visions, tenure of unproductive land aims for speculation in the land market serves as a mechanism of political and social cohesion. This article deals with this reality, from the analysis of the historical/structural phenomena that shape the present agro-rural countryside, and then subsequently focuses in a local context on the agrarian transformations and problems facing campesino societies in the neoliberal regime. Finally, we present in the form of a hypothesis, elements that can help to understand/explain the campesinos persistence in response to the specific political/economic processes that affect the country.
