Desarrollo campesino, un concepto en construcción

Abstract

The present text recoups the history of the last 50 years of campesinos participating in the construction of a significant regional process. It has transformed the agricultural vocation of the land, the countryside, the structure and use of the territory, social relations, and the living conditions of farming families and their position in relation to the state economy. It consists of a regional process brought about from family strategies, social networks, and negotiations and confrontations between distinct actors in the north of Morelos in a region known as Los Altos. This process refers to the construction of development, understood as the constitution of a certain social order created by the disputes of the sum of the social actors that orient the regional structure and the processes of capital accumulation. In this case it concerns a process of regional agricultural development which revolves around the commercial production of seasonal tomatoes by small scale producers. It refers to producers whose working context is organized into family units, within which individual decisions are made and relations with different actors are managed. Nevertheless, the practices are not isolated: complex networks of social relations have evolved in which productive units and diverse actors participate.

El presente trabajo recupera la historia de los últimos 50 años de los campesinos que participaron en la construcción de un proceso regional que transformó la vocación agrícola de las tierras, el paisaje, la estructura y uso del territorio, las relaciones sociales, las condiciones de vida de las familias de los agricultores y su lugar frente a la economía estatal. Se trata de un proceso regional conformado a partir de estrategias familiares, redes sociales, negociaciones y confrontaciones entre distintos actores en el norte de Morelos, región conocida como Los Altos. Dicho proceso se refiere a una construcción de desarrollo, entendiéndolo como la constitución de un cierto orden social dado por las disputas del conjunto de actores sociales que orientan la conformación regional y los procesos de acumulación de capital. En este caso se trata de un proceso de desarrollo regional campesino, cuyo eje ha sido la producción comercial de jitomate de temporal por parte de pequeños productores. Se refiere a productores cuyo ámbito de trabajo es la organización de las unidades familiares, desde donde se toman las decisiones individuales y se gestan las relaciones con los diferentes actores. Sin embargo, no son acciones aisladas, pues se han conformado redes complejas de relaciones sociales en las que participan las unidades productivas y diversos actores.
