La experiencia de la maternidad en el contexto de la discapacidad

Abstract

Motherhood as a social construction, although it has been supported in the generation of a series of mandates related to the ought to be feminine and maternal, also involves that this experience can be highly variable. The heterogeneous and contradictory character of the action, affections and forms of representation around the maternal duty, make us recognize the trail and the agency of the experience. Most of the mothers who accompanied this study are women in rural environments who have enormous economic deprivation and limited resources of information are also mothers of children with disabilities who do not appear to correspond with the image of the modern mother, not because they don’t trying, but the experience they try to proclaim, whether they do or not, will never be enough.

La maternidad en tanto construcción social, si bien ha estado soportada en la generación de una serie de mandatos relativos al deber ser de lo femenino y lo maternal, también da cuenta de que esta experiencia puede ser sumamente variable. El carácter heterogéneo y contradictorio de los modos de acción, los afectos y las formas de representación en torno a un deber ser materno, nos hacen reconocer las huellas y la agencia de la experiencia. La mayor parte de las madres que acompañaron este estudio, mujeres de entornos rurales, con enormes carencias económicas y pocos recursos de información, madres de hijos con discapacidad, no parecen corresponder con esa imagen de la madre ideal moderna, no porque no lo intenten, sino porque en la experiencia que alcanzan a comunicar, lo que hagan o no, nunca será suficiente.
