La enseñanza de la historia

Abstract

This paper ponders the relationships between history and its teaching, reflecting on three main aspects: first, it analyzes the problems facing historiographical practice and reflection over the last few years, when researchers became aware that doing history —writing history— is an activity that is part of the same history that the historian is trying to grasp. The second section poses the need to rethink the history of history teaching, through a brief review of this practice in nineteenth century in Mexico and of some of its effects on the teaching of history in the twentieth century. Finally, the third section reflects on the other two to bring out the questions and challenges currently facing the teaching of history.

El presente texto propone una breve reflexión, armada en tres apartados, en torno a la relación que hay entre la historia y su enseñanza. En la primera parte pretende mostrar la dificultad a la que se enfrenta la reflexión y la práctica historiográfica de los últimos años al tomar conciencia de que hacer historia —escribir historia— es una actividad que forma parte de la propia historia que el historiador pretende comprender. La segunda parte sugiere la necesidad de repensar la historia de la enseñanza de la historia, apuntando algunas ideas a partir de una visita rápida al siglo XIX mexicano y algunos de los efectos y características que la enseñanza de la historia adquirió en el siglo XX. Finalmente, el último apartado, intenta recoger los dos anteriores para hacer notar las interrogantes y desafíos en torno a la enseñanza de la historia en la actualidad.
