El poder, el sexo y la risa

Abstract

In the recent national homage to Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz the emancipation aspect of her life project and the practica1 resources that she used to carry it out were subject to little attention. If they are approached from a gender perspective these resources appear today as part of a survival strategy that Sor Juana designed and carried out to escape the destiny offered to women in the society of New Spain. The matters that I look at to show how Sor Juana carries out this vital task are: the resolution of the contradiction between nature (gender) and culture, its relation to the established powers, and finally, the sense of humor as a weapon of defense.

En el reciente homenaje nacional a Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz poco se destacó el aspecto emancipador de su proyecto de vida y los recursos prácticos que utilizó para llevarlo a cabo. Si se abordan desde una perspectiva de género, estos recursos aparecen hoy como parte de una estrategia de sobrevivencia que Sor Juana diseñó y realizó, para escapar al destino ofrecido a las mujeres por la sociedad novohispana. Los aspectos que abordo para mostrar cómo realiza Sor Juana esa tarea vital son: la resolución de la contradicción entre naturaleza (sexo) y cultura, la relación en el poder establecido y, finalmente, el sentido del humor como arma de defensa.
