La discapacidad, ¿referente de un déficit o de diversidad?

Abstract

This paper offers an approach to certain conceptual approaches to disability, and invite us to reflect on stopping thinking about disability, properly, as the body referring to a deficit built under an ideology of normality that erases the body and the experience of who lives, feels and coexist with a “disability”. In addition, the body and experience are approached from physical anthropology, as a discipline that has taken the body as its field of study, in which they have revolved from human diversity and a series of categories to understand, describe, explain, represent, mean and give it meaning.

El artículo ofrece un acercamiento a ciertos abordajes conceptuales sobre la discapacidad, e invita a reflexionar sobre dejar de pensar la discapacidad, propiamente dicha, como el cuerpo referente a un déficit construido bajo una ideología de la normalidad, que borra al cuerpo y la experiencia de quien vive, siente y convive con una “discapacidad”. Asimismo, se aborda el cuerpo y la experiencia a partir de la antropología física, como disciplina que ha tomado al cuerpo como su campo de estudio, en el que han girado tanto la diversidad humana como una serie de categorías para entender, describir, explicar, representar, significar y dotarlo de sentido.
