El feminicidio en México como proceso de tortura

Abstract

Femicide is the murder of women motivated by hatred and/or power over them, it is the culmination of a situation of extreme violence that occurs in many places in the world but in Mexico, it has reached inconceivable figures. It has been almost three decades since it began to be documented in Ciudad Juarez and the numbers have continue to increase alarmingly each year ever since. This work addresses femicide as a phenomenon that encompasses: first, the physical torture against the victim; second, the painful path –with deadly consequences, in certain case– of the families on their way to find rather their daughters in order to demand justice; and third, the message of terror that sends the unlimited exercise of widespread violence against women in Mexico and its use as a means of control.

El feminicidio es el asesinato de mujeres motivado por odio y/o poder sobre ellas, es la culminación de una situación de violencia extrema que ocurre en gran parte del mundo, pero en México ha alcanzado cifras inconcebibles; han pasado casi tres décadas desde que comenzó a documentarse en Ciudad Juárez y las cifras aumentan de forma alarmante cada año. Este trabajo aborda el feminicidio como un fenómeno que abarca tres procesos de tortura: el primero es la tortura ejercida en el cuerpo de las mujeres asesinadas; el segundo, el camino doloroso –y en ocasiones mortal– que recorren las familias en la búsqueda de sus hijas con el fin de exigir justicia, y el tercero, el mensaje de terror que envía el ejercicio ilimitado de violencia generalizada contra las mujeres en México y su utilización como medio de control.
