Los caminos de la expresión en personas sordas: las señas y la oralidad

Abstract

The main topic consists of getting deeper into deaf people’s subjectivity. A matter that is central in social sciences, is studied in hearing people every day and from different approaches. It's a challenge to deepen from a discipline such as psychoanalysis and linguistics how subjectivity processes occur, as well as symbolizing, for this point at the need of the spoken and heard word. Therefore, the eagerness for the search of knowing what happens in deaf people, how they express themselves, while they count on the main support of The Sign Language, its present such an important issue in them, which consists of learning not only this tongue, but also the possibility of learning how to talk, become "orals", having a voice. It will be explained, on one side, the trascendance and richness contained in sign language, and on the other hand, to make clear why do I consider vital these two psychic and mental processes and how can they match, opening a world of possibilities; among these, to have a relationship with the hearing people community, and to be able to express their subjectivity in a different way. Finally, it is suggested the experience of a deaf people community, which has learned sign language and orality, its bonds, its fights and petitions.

El tema central de este trabajo consiste en profundizar en la subjetividad de las personas sordas, cuestión que es central en las ciencias sociales, ya que se estudia en los oyentes todos los días y desde diferentes enfoques. Representa un reto indagar desde disciplinas como el psicoanálisis y la lingüística cómo suceden los procesos de subjetivación, así como los de simbolización, ya que éstas apuntan a la necesidad de la palabra hablada y oída. De ahí el afán por investigar qué sucede en las personas sordas, cómo se expresan, si bien cuentan con el aporte fundamental de la lengua de señas, se presenta una problemática importante en ellos que consiste en aprender no solo esta lengua, sino la posibilidad de aprender a hablar, volverse “orales”, tener voz. Se explicará, por un lado, la trascendencia y riqueza que contiene la lengua de señas y por el otro, esclarecer porqué considero vital estos dos procesos psíquicos y mentales, y cómo pueden coincidir, abriéndoseles un mundo de posibilidades. Entre éstas, relacionarse con la comunidad de los oyentes y el poder expresar de otra manera su subjetividad. Por último, se plantea la experiencia de una comunidad sorda que ha aprendido la lengua de señas y la oralidad, sus vínculos, sus luchas y demandas.
