Legislación sanitaria en México (1797-1810)

Abstract

A finales del periodo colonia, se realizaron un conjunto de acciones para mejorar la salud y el bienestar de los habitantes de la Nueva España. Las autoridades metropolitanas y virreinales dictaron diversas disposiciones encaminadas a mejorar las condiciones de vida de la población. Este artículo tiene como propósito analizar la legislación emitida en materia de sanidad entre los años de 1797 a 1810, se pretende poner de manifiesto lo rasgos más importantes de dicha legislación, los sectores a los que va dirigida, así como los principales intereses políticos involucrados en ella

At the end of the colonial period in Mexico (1797-1810) the Spanish government carried several actions designed to improve the health and welfare of the community. Among these were various decrees directed at improving the living conditions of the population. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the sanitary legislation proposed by the Spanish Monarchy and local authorities. The most important characteristics of these decrees, the types of the problems that they wanted to attack and the political interest involved in this historical moment will be analyzed in this paper
