Condiciones de vida y salud de un grupo de jefas de familia de la delegación Tlalpan, Distrito Federal

Abstract

Tomando como punto de partida un grupo de 40 menores de 6 anos (21 niños y 19 niñas) que acudían a una guardería para madres solteras, se llevo a cabo un estudio que diera cuenta de las relaciones existentes entre la situación sociodemográfica de sus madres y las condiciones de salud de ellas y los niños. Se entrevistaron 29 de las 31 madres que tenían hijos inscritos en ese centro educativo y se registró la edad, el peso y la estatura de las mujeres y de los niños. Diecinueve mujeres a pesar de ser jóvenes presentaban problemas de sobrepeso y prácticamente la mitad de los niños emanciación. This research was carried out taking as starting point a group of 40 children (21 boys and 19 girls) under six years-old enrolled in a day care center for single mothers. The study dealt with the relationships between the single mother's living conditions, their health status and their children's. Twenty nine of the thirty one mothers involved with the day care center were interviewed. The weight and height as well as the age of mothers and children were recorded. Nineteen women had overweight problems, while almost half of their children were undernurished. The latter probably associated with domestic violence
