Estudiantes, valores y tendencias valorales en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León

Abstract

This paper describes a study of values held by students at the School of Philosophy and Arts of the UANL. The article describes how students spend their free time and the values to which they give priority in their choice of leisure activities. The study examined the issue of religion/religiosity together with its importance as an element of identity, and of qualities which identify students as individuals and, more importantly, as a part of the academic community. Students interests and expectations for their lives were also studied, as these provide a rather clear indication of their values, at least in this stage of life. We claim that students are on the cusp between tradition and change, and that their values, influenced by the modern era, vacillate between the traditional and the modern.

En este trabajo, sobre los valores de los estudiantes de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UANL, se describen las formas en que los estudiantes usan su tiempo libre y los valores que privilegian en ello; el aspecto religión-religiosidad y su importancia como elemento de identidad; cualidades que los identifican en lo individual, pero principalmente como parte de una comunidad académica; y, por último, los intereses o expectativas que tienen en su mundo de vida, porque éstos también traducen orientaciones valorales más o menos claras, por lo menos en esta etapa de los estudiantes. Se considera que los estudiantes se encuentran entre la tradición y el cambio, y que sus orientaciones valorales aparecen matizadas por los nuevos tiempos, oscilando desde lo tradicional hasta lo posmoderno.
