Respuestas al neoliberalismo en Argentina

Abstract

Towards the end of the past decade, social protests in Argentina started to gain strength and become more dynamic in response to the crisis that ensued from the neoliberal policies that were predominant in said country during the 1990's. In such framework, workers? groups started to take over companies who were at risk of shutting down, thus organizing themselves to manage and operate said companies under a self-rule scheme. This paper reviews the labor market characteristics as well as the traditions and resources that enabled workers to undertake and advance such kind of actions, through an outline of various courses of action that provided intelligibility to the situation and events being reviewed.

Hacia finales de la década pasada comienza a cobrar dinamismo la protesta social en Argentina como respuesta a la crisis resultante de las políticas neoliberales que dominaron la escena nacional en los noventa. En ese contexto, grupos de trabajadores ocupan empresas en riesgo de cerrar sus puertas, organizándose para operarlas en forma autogestionaria. Aquí se estudian las características del mercado de trabajo, así como las tradiciones y los recursos que permitieron a los trabajadores llevar adelante este tipo de acciones, delineando distintas trayectorias que otorgaron inteligibilidad al fenómeno analizado.
