El pueblo originario de Milpa Alta y sus problemas alrededor del acceso al agua

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to identify the main perceptions that the members of this native people have about access to water, as well as some of the responses that they have given in organized way and the proposals for a solution. For the analysis in this work, the political ecology approach is taken up. The results indicate that the milpaltenses consider that the lack of access to water is the result of the privatization of the water supply and the unequal distribution of access to water compared to other areas of the city. The milpaltenses have organized and demand from the city government a better service and the cancellation of the payment of water, since in their territory are the recharge zones of the aquifers.

El objetivo de este trabajo es identificar las principales percepciones que tienen los integrantes de este pueblo originario sobre el suministro de agua, así como su respuesta organizada y las propuestas para una solución. Para el análisis se retoma el enfoque de ecología política. Los resultados indican que los milpaltenses consideran que la falta de acceso al agua es resultado de la privatización del suministro y de la distribución desigual del acceso al agua en comparación con otras zonas de la ciudad. Los milpaltenses se han organizado y demandan al gobierno de la ciudad un mejor servicio y condonación del pago de agua, ya que en su territorio están las zonas de recarga de los mantos acuíferos.
