El papel del Instituto Nacional Electoral ante la primera elección presidencial

Abstract

The triumph of the coalition Together we will make history, formed by the parties National Regeneration Movement (Morena), the Labor Party (PT) and Social Encounter Party (PES), was so forceful, that the idea of fraud in the elections was not cited. The conduct of the federal electoral process began in October 2017 with the lifting of signatures of adhesion for possible independent candidates, going through various arrangements to safeguard the rights of voters and, finally, with regard to the operational part of the voting. The role of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in these elections was consistent with the regulations and to this is added an election day that was lived without major setbacks in general. The previous idea is manifest in a series of processes that contribute to consolidate the image of democracy, at least for the institutional part. The objective of this article is to explain part of the actions carried out by the INE during the 2017-2018 electoral process and obtain a report on its first presidential election.

El triunfo de la coalición Juntos Haremos Historia, conformada por los partidos Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena), Partido del Trabajo (PT) y Partido Encuentro Social (PES), fue tan contundente, que la idea del fraude en los comicios no fue citada. La conducción del proceso electoral federal inicio desde octubre de 2017 con el levantamiento de firmas de adhesión para las posibles candidaturas independientes, pasando por diversos arreglos para salvaguardar los derechos de los votantes y, finalmente, lo referente a la parte operativa de las votaciones. El papel del Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE) en estas elecciones estuvo acorde a la normatividad y a ello se suma una jornada electoral que se vivió sin mayores contratiempos en lo general. La anterior idea es manifiesto de una serie de procesos que contribuyen a consolidar la imagen de la democracia, al menos para la parte institucional. El objetivo de este artículo es explicar parte de las acciones que el INE desempeñó en el proceso electoral 2017-2018 y obtener un balance sobre su primera elección presidencial.
