En torno y retorno a Marx. Vigencia y compromiso con las nuevas generaciones

Abstract

The reflection revolves around the validity and legacy of Karl Marx’s thought, with the new generations in mind. We begin with the assumption that recovering the legacy of communism and imagining an alternative culture for the left at this time requires dismantling the artifice on which its stigmatization was constructed. To this end, we trace the intellectual process that led to the equation of Stalinism with communism and totalitarianism, at the same time as the capitalism-liberalism binomial emerged as the sole alternative to the horrors of the 20th century. We subsequently discuss elements of Marx’s diagnosis, locating validity between the past and present, the expression of which links the commitment of his thought to the coming generations.

La reflexión gira en torno a la vigencia y legado del pensamiento de Karl Marx, dirigido a las nuevas generaciones. Partimos del supuesto de que para recuperar la herencia del comunismo e imaginar una cultura alternativa para la izquierda en los tiempos que corren, es preciso desmontar el artificio sobre el que fue construida su estigmatización. Con este propósito, rastreamos el proceso intelectual que dio paso a la equivalencia entre estalinismo, comunismo y totalitarismo, al mismo tiempo que el binomio capitalismo-liberalismo emergía como única alternativa a los horrores del siglo XX. Posteriormente, discutimos elementos del diagnóstico de Marx, situando su vigencia entre pasado y presente, cuya manifestación enlaza el compromiso de su pensamiento con las generaciones por venir.
