Imágenes de la ciencia y de los científicos en películas de ciencia ficción.

Abstract

Esta investigación ofrece un análisis de ciertos fragmentos de películas de ciencia ficción. El propósito es delimitar algunas de las imágenes de la ciencia y de los científicos que proyectan estos filmes. Con esto buscamos identificar el tipo de valoración (positiva o negativa) que se hace de dichas imágenes y si, con el transcurso del tiempo, estas caracterizaciones tienden al cambio o a la permanencia. La organización de la tesis es la siguiente. En el primer capítulo realizamos una breve introducción al cine de ciencia ficción y hacemos un recuento cronológico de algunas películas cuyas historias tratan algún tópico relacionado con la ciencia y los científicos. En el segundo capítulo desarrollamos nuestro marco teórico el cual se sustenta, principalmente, en la perspectiva semiolingüística del análisis de discurso. En el tercero, delimitamos un corpus compuesto por películas de ciencia ficción que se produjeron en diferentes décadas del siglo XX y XXI. En el cuarto capítulo exponemos los resultados de nuestro análisis el cual se auxilió, principalmente, de algunas herramientas y conceptos provenientes del análisis de discurso

This research offers an analysis of certain fragments of science-fiction movies. The purpose is outlining some of the images of science and of the scientists that are projected by these films. Through this, we seek to identify the type of assessment (whether it be positive or negative) made over said images, and if, as time goes by, these characterizations are prone to change or to remain the same. The organization of the thesis is the following. In the first chapter, we briefly introduce the genre of science-fiction movies, and we also make a chronological list of some movies which plots deal with some topic related to science and scientists. In the second chapter, we develop our theoretical framework which relies mainly on the linguistic and semiotic perspective of the discourse analysis. In the third one, we define a corpus composed by science-fiction movies that were produced in different decades of the 20th and 21st centuries. In the fourth chapter, we present the results of our analysis that mainly supported itself on some tools and concepts obtained from the discourse analysis.
