Despite being a source of instability, these are necessary for the operation and reproduction of the economic system. In this scenario, the purpose of this work is to study instability, as well as the characteristics that generate it and the impacts it has on the productive sphere. For the development of the following investigation, we start from the analysis of orthodox theory, emphasizing its theoretical-logical inability to explain the financial instability and various economic phenomena existing in the system, classifying any disturbance as a self-correcting external shock. For this reason, it is necessary to study the post-Keynesian theory, which focuses on a monetary economy of production where importance is given to money, debt and profitability. In this framework, the fragility of the financial system is measured by the profitability of capital, which has the characteristic of being cyclical, as well as being result and condition at the same time; since this determines the variation of the marginal efficiency of capital and, then, the evolution of the economic cycle. To the extent that capital is scarce, a higher probability of return will be presented, while its abundance will imply a lower return on capital. Consequently, depending on the expectations of future returns, regarding investment projects, there will be prosperity in the economy or not. The economic cycle is characterized by ascending and descending trends that do not persist indefinitely in the same direction, once initiated, but that these trends eventually reverse. Because the cycle presents regularity in the sequence of time and duration, crises and depressions are inevitable. To approach this topic, we study Keyness theory, post-Keynesian theory and the position of H. Minsky. After that, a working route is proposed to incorporate the study of technological change and the institutional structure in the Financial Instability Hypothesis.es_MX
