This paper intends to systematically review some determinations around the presentation of the concept of the reserve industrial army as an inseparable element of the general law of capitalist accumulation. With this, we discover that capital in its search to produce relative surplus-value determines and condemns progressively a fraction of the working population as superfluous. As soon as concrete manifestations of unemployment appear as an inseparable fact of the capitalist system, we contrast with some theories that point to the rejection or revision of this economic law and we conclude that its functionality is currently valid. On the other hand, insofar as the presentation of the concept of the reserve industrial army in Capital is carried out under the assumption of the process of circulation, we question whether this concept is limited exclusively to considering unemployment constituted by the functions of valorization that is concretely carried out by capital productive and, therefore, insufficient to explain the unemployment constituted in the sphere of circulation. To answer this we use some elements of the systematic dialectical method used by Marx to present his concept of capital in Capital and we show that the concept of the reserve army is presented in a logical moment that refers to the common elements of each form or species of capital in the overall process of reproduction. Therefore, we conclude that the evolution of the concept of relative overpopulation is the result of a universal law that belongs to or refers to all forms of capital. However, at lower levels of abstraction, we consider that once presented other forms of existence of capital this concept can be extended as an Global Reserve Army.es_MX
