This doctoral thesis analyses alternative rock videoclip of 1990’s decade. A media object, whose images highlights aesthetic and political positions from periphery of the musical industry. This videoclip emerges in the end of century historic juncture, where it slides from a structuring transparency visibility regime developed over a structuring dichotomic visibility regime. Nineties MTVs had weak ties with of musical industry; these ones became experimental proposals within the margins of the musical industry, which reconfigure their aesthetic from an ‘agenizing’ between directors and rock musicians, as a mode of videoclip’s authorship that got criticism of their contemporary institutional environment. Alternative rock videoclip is approached from a heuristic perspective sustained on the conceptual scaffolding of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, a rhizomatic approach to an object of pop music whose relevance lies on the fact to be a fold of social, economics, aesthetics and political dimensions. Reading in deleuzian and guattarian codes let me to connect the chapters of this thesis as “plateaus”, intensive regions of pluggable multiplicity that extend the becoming of the alternative rock history in the musical industry micropolitics and the propping up on the components of motion-images and time-images, to create a consistency plane where alternative rock videoclip produces rhizomes; ‘roots’ audiovisual formations that even are connected with mainstream videoclips, they establish changing directions in the ‘flowing matter’ of their images as well. Concepts developed throughout the thesis are put into operation of a corpus-object of three alternative rock videoclips to explore through a visual semiosis the immanence of its composition lines and subsequently to support its aesthetic politic sense of this videoclip in the way of the rhizomatic principles.es_MX
